Being a racehorse owner is an exciting and rewarding
hobby. With a range of ownership options it can be tailored to suit all
incomes. There are three types of ownership:
1) Sole
ownership. Here the owner is responsible
for paying all the bills connected with the horse. However the benefits are
greater. The owner gets to choose their own colours for the horse to race
in, their name will appear in the racecard and Racing Post, if the horse is
bought un-named they will be able to name it and naturally the owner will
receive all prize and appearance money gained by their horse. They can
visit the stable and watch their horses work. They will also get badges for
racecourse admission when their horse runs, entitling them to access to the
top enclosure, saddling boxes and parade ring and some complimentary
refreshments.
2) Partnerships.
Here several people get together to own the horse and all bills and monies
gained are split between them in the proportion of their ownership. The
partnership can have their own colours or use colours already owned by one
of their members. The other benefits are the same as sole ownership except
that there are usually 6 badges for racedays.
3) Syndicates.
Here up to twenty people combine to own the horse. Two of them have to be
registered owners and are nominally responsible for running the syndicate.
(We can arrange for the syndicate to be run for you in conjunction with the
nominated owners). The costs and monies gained are split proportionally
making it the cheapest form of ownership, but badge allocations for
racedays are still usually limited to 6 with additional badges available to
purchase at a reduced rate.
